First Minister to launch 75th Anniversary weekend

On 4th June 1934, Stonehaven Open Air Pool opened for its very first season. In 2009, the Pool will open for its 75th anniversary season on Saturday 30th May. Special events are planned that day and also all season long to celebrate the anniversary year, with a special Anniversary and Homecoming Weekend from Friday 3rd – Sunday 5th July.  Today the Pool offers sheltered sun terraces, an on-site café and healthy fun for all ages from grannies to babies, whatever the weather. It really is cool when it’s hot and fun when it’s not!

NEW for 2009 is the Paddling Pool, specially designed to give our youngest customers their best possible first “swimming” experience, and to keep them safe and sheltered from sea breezes. There are swimming sessions for everyone, including kids’ fun and midnight swims, long opening hours in peak season and ticket prices to suit most budgets. Disabled visitors and swimmers will also find the stunning Listed Art Deco building easily accessible. The Pool is operated to the highest standards by a partnership between Aberdeenshire Council and the Friends of Stonehaven Open Air Pool  and has recently won Customer Service and Visitor Experience awards
