75th Anniversary
Our
Anniversary Weekend was launched on Friday 3rd July by none other
than Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond. We were told that he
would spend 45 minutes at the Pool – but he stayed for an hour
longer!
His staff also told us that
they voted the Stonehaven Open Air Pool visit “the best event of the
last 2 years”!
Over
the Anniversary weekend, there was a programme of events including:
-
Splasher’s Kiddies Party, with magician aiding
and abetting Splahser, our cuddly dolphin mascot
-
Entertainment throughout Saturday afternoon

-
A Life Guards’ and Pool Staff reunion – the
farthest travelled attendee came all the way from Bath!
-
An Aqua Disco
All the old photos and memories you’ve sent us are
on display at the Pool alongside some more recent photos. Later in
the summer, these will also be shown in the Stonehaven Library
window in Evan Street.
It’s
not too late to send us photos or memories, please contact:

Invitation: 2009 is also Scotland’s year of
Homecoming and the Friends of Stonehaven Open Air Pool would like to
invite everyone who learned to swim, or enjoyed swimming in the Pool
over the last 75 years to “Come Home” to Stonehaven and your pool
during season 2009!
